Secure Home Warranty Review

The Gist

Secure Home Warranty is a new home warranty company that appears to have a growing customer base. Providing a number of plans for homeowners, realtors and landlords they provide a viable alternative to some of the companies that have gained a less than desirable reputation.

Best For landlords that have previously held home warranties and are clear about their coverage and obligations

Secure Home Warranty Highlights

  • Limited time plans available for those selling their home.

  • Dedicated team to support relators.

  • Special plan for multiple property owners.

  • Speedy service has resulted in high customer satisfaction ratings.

  • 30 day full money back guarantee.

  • 24/7 customer service center available to deal with your claim.

  • Any costs incurred for removal of old appliances, systems or any waste generated by the replacement or repair are not covered by your warranty.

  • Secure Home Warranty reserves the right to transfer your coverage to another home warranty company, while keeping your contract terms and conditions the same.

Secure Home Warranty has their full terms and conditions published on their website but the financial limits to the coverage are not published. This may be due to differing levels of coverage in different geographic areas but the lack of information constrains your ability to make clear comparisons between companies.

Many areas of the website have only the most basic of information and you are frequently prompted to ‘call for more details’.

Secure Home Warranty’s Coverage

Secure Home Warranty offers three plans:

The Core plan covers your basic household systems; heating, plumbing, duct work, air conditioning etc.The Appliance plan covers the eight most common appliances in the home. Finally, they offer a hybrid plan, the Elite Plan which covers all the elements of both the core and appliance plans.

Additional coverage is available for items such as sump pumps, spas or a second refrigerator.

Terms and Conditions

Secure Home Warranty has many terms and restrictions that are standard to the majority of home warranty companies. In addition to these ‘average’ terms and conditions, Secure Home Warranty also has a restriction that decreases the amount of coverage you receive in the first three months of your plan. For example, if your heating needs repair in the first three months of your plan the dollar limit is $500, raising to $2,000 (in total) after that date.

Customer Service

A free telephone claims line is available for Secure Home Warranty customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Secure states they will ‘take care of everything’ when you are in need of a repair and they guarantee you will save time and money using their service.

Customer reviews relate how they received service either the same day or next day but service standards are not available on the website.

Even as a new company, Secure Home Warranty has developed a network of trusted contractors. They check opinions from prior customers, research online reviews to verify the contractors are reliable and follow-up after the repairs with a customer satisfaction survey.

To Sum It Up

Secure Home Warranty is a new company in the home warranty field but so far its customers appear to be happy with both the service received and the quality of contractors. While it is often preferable to go with a company that has an established history, Secure is a popular up and coming company that offers good value for money.
